Fort Vermilion Adult Learning programs
Since January 2018 our Society has been funded for the Adult Foundational Learning program, funded by the Alberta Government. We are quite pleased to be able to offer this service to Fort Vermilion and the surrounding area.
Our main focus will be foundational skills, such as reading, writing, math, for which we provide any service that you would require.
Do you know of anyone who needs some help with reading? Whether it is basic reading or helping your children do their homework, we can help.
Do you know of anyone struggling with numbers? Banking? We can help you with those essential skills that make your everyday life easier. We can tutor one-on-one, or work in small groups. If you'd like to know more about banking, ask for our Money Matters program that walks you through the basics of budgeting, banking and saving money.
Would you like to know what you can do with your phone or tablet (except for throwing it out of the window if it doesn't do what you want it to do), we can help! A phone or tablet has complex technology and there are many features on there, the possibilities are almost endless. We can help you find them.
Basic computer skills: Windows, IPhone, tablet: we can help.
These services can all be accessed through one-on-one tutoring or in small groups.
Other courses we offer are Community Capacity Building courses: The Firearms safety course, a First Aid course, Mental Health First Aid, Resume writing course: just ask us when we run it again. With sufficient participants we can organize it at your request.
Tutoring or small group courses can be delivered at our office at 4601-46 avenue (the old Mackenzie County building)
We have recently set up our own classroom in our building. Please feel free to stop in and have a look.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions anyone that enters our building must wear a mask.
Do you live on reserve and would like us to deliver courses there? Call us at 780-581-3510 and we will see what we can make happen (Deanna Jones, our facilitator) You can also email us at bfscal@northwestalbertabrighterfutures.com
