Our Funders
Our Head Start programs are funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). Public Health Agency of Canada has CAPC-CPNP Coalitions across Canada. We are a member of the Alberta CAPC-CPNP Coalition. CAPC stands for Community Action Programs for Children, CPNP stands for Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program. CAPC addresses health and developmental needs of children birth to 6 years old and their families living in conditions of risk. CPNP works to help vulnerable pregnant women to stay healthy and have healthy babies. There is a Coalition of CAPC-CPNP programs in every province or territory. Our Adult Foundational Learning program is funded by Alberta Advanced Education. We are also a member of the Community Learning Network and support adults as of the age of 18 years in their learning abilities, be it literacy, numeracy, basic computer skills, resume writing, money management etc. Learning opportunities are available through online connection (Facetime, Skype, Zoom etc.) or in person. With the current pandemic, we do require that learners wear masks and sanitize their hands upon entry of the building. Since October 2020 we have a classroom for classes that we hope to run after the pandemic is over.
Every three years we work a Casino event in the Great Northern Casino in Grande Prairie. As we come closer to the date of the event you will be able to find more information on our site. We always ask for volunteers to help us with the casino event. Our next Casino event will - hopefully - be in 2022.
Other fundraising activities are Purdy's chocolates fundraiser, bottle drives, raffle tickets, basket sales and many other events, usually organised by each Head Start in their own community.
